I offer you a Choice today

[fusion_text]I read an article in TheGuardian.com published on Oct 11, 2016. The title was “Is our world a simulation? Why some scientists say it’s more likely than not”. The writer Quoted a couple of technology industry leader like Elon Musk- who believes we may be living in a simulated universe. He is a South African-born, Canadian-American businessman. He is the CEO of Tesla Motors, SpaceX , PayPal and a few other companies, needless to say, he knows more about Technology than I do. He said at a recent technology conference (Code conference) and I quote “ the odds w’ere in a base reality is one in Billions”.

This idea of simulation reality was first posed by 17th-century philosopher René Descartes, so it’s not new. Rich Terrille, a scientist at Nasa’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory also shared Elon’s view saying “Soon there will be nothing technical standing in the way to making machines that have their own consciousness”.

There are skeptics too in the scientific community. For example Max Tegmark, a professor of physics at MIT. He is quoted in the article saying “In order to make the argument in the first place, we need to know what the fundamental laws of physics are where the simulations are being made. And if we are in a simulation then we have no clue what the laws of physics are. What I teach at MIT would be the simulated laws of physics”. Lisa Randall, a theoretical Physicist at Harvard supports Max position. She said “I don’t see that there’s really an argument for it, there’s no real evidence.”

Okay- Enough of this article. I subscribe to email from various sources to get a pulse of what is going on around me- current affairs, foreign policy, church news etc. Occasionally I find a headline that peaks my interest, especially relative to Gods word and what is happening in our world.

A few years ago, several games came out – where people sign up and play different second life games- augmented reality etc. I remember a colleague in a place I worked that would play the game all weekend long- only bathroom breaks. And the only reason he came to work- was to get money to live. Otherwise, his avatar, persona and life was almost more real to him and he was consumed by this game.

Science, technology, aliens, different religions, atheism, agnostics have been part of our world- now scientist (some at least) think we may all be in a simulation- that some more advanced superhuman are controlling the “game”?  So then, what is consciousness? Is the color blue really blue? is my blue the same as your blue- even though we both call it blue?- or is it just a figment of my imagination? Are we real? or just computer bytes in a giant simulation? Many questions right??.

It’s simple really. I call your attention to the time of Noah. Now before I go on, Full disclosure- I am a Christian- I believe the bible as the word of God and true. ok- now that we got that out of the way – Noah warned that generation of a coming judgement on the world. Everyone laughed at him (Read Gen 5:29 through Gen 8) . The judgment came in spite of the analysis of the time, nay-saying, and skepticism. If you are honest scientist, the evidences of this worldwide flood abounds as recorded in the Bible passages listed.

The same thing is happening now. Jesus came and died for humanity (John 3:16). Jesus said He is God – I should add, other individuals also came and said they were god- however none of them died and came back to life, neither did any other “god” fulfill many prophecies written hundreds of years ahead of his time. Needless to say, Jesus is authentic, and He is God!

Wait a minute- someone reading this might say “how can you say Jesus is the ONLY God, when there are many options out there?”. I said earlier- it’s simple- choice. You can either believe that the bible is true- accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior or believe any one of many other possibilities- such as other gods or religions, no religion, satan worship, science/technology, or the most recent simulation. It’s all a choice. Not choosing (i.e. believing there is NO God or taking the position of simulated reality is still a CHOICE). So there is no sitting of the fence on this one. The interesting things is – the God of the bible is not mandating this choice for you- its more like an invitation. However, I should point out that there are serious implication and consequences of this choice. Deut 30:15- 18 shed light on this:

15 See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, 16“in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess.17 “But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, 18 “I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess.

Notice that He was giving them ( by extension: you and I) a choice- and showing the implication of each choice. But you do have the right to choose.

Jesus said “ “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me”. (john 14:6).

If you ever read the bible- you notice that many followed Jesus, and many did not. Again: CHOICE. God always gives us a choice. He is not a God that forces himself on people- but you must remember the implication of your choice.

Rev 20:15 said “Anyone, whose names was not written in the book of life were thrown in the Lake of fire”. Here is the consequence of the other choices.

So, I offer you a choice today- would you accept Jesus as your LORD and savior and take a leap of faith!. If your answer is yes, say this prayer “dear Lord Jesus, Come into my heart, be my Lord and Savior. I promise to serve the rest of my days”.
